Welcome to Dower Elementary School! Home of the Dragons!

My name is David Pogson, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Dower Elementary School. With 19 years in education, I am passionate about building strong relationships, creating meaningful learning experiences, and ensuring every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

At Dower Elementary, We are proud to serve a diverse community of learners, with students representing a variety of cultures, languages, experiences, and abilities. We believe that our diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and we celebrate the unique perspectives each student and family brings to our school.

At Dower, we proudly offer a variety of programs and services designed to support every learner, including:

• Daily specialist classes in Physical Education, Library, and Fine Arts
• Comprehensive support for Multi-Lingual Learners (MLL) to help students develop strong language and academic skills
• Targeted reading intervention to accelerate literacy growth for students who qualify
• Inclusive special education services, including Functional Academics and Life Skills classrooms that provide individualized support while promoting belonging and access to learning

Kindergarten Registration

If your child will be 5 years old by August 31st, 2026, it is time to register for kindergarten! Visit the CPSD enrollment page to complete our online enrollment. Once your child is registered, you will start receiving emails and information about all of our back to school events.

Our meet the teacher night will be on August 31st at 5:00! Come meet your teacher, drop off supplies and tour campus!

NEW: Attendance - EVERY Day Counts

 If your student has missed six or more days of school last year, they could be on track to becoming chronically absent. These students face more educational barriers at every grade level. Third graders have difficulty reading, middle schoolers struggle to achieve and high schoolers may fail to graduate.

If your student has a hard time getting out the door in the morning, they may struggle with school refusal. Please take a look at Brown University's resource on tackling school refusal to discover strategies that may make mornings easier for you and your student. Great things happen when they are here!
